  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the emergency department team, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other support staff.Consult with specialists and arrange for the transfer of patients requiring advanced care to larger facilities if necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough medical records, documenting patient assessments, treatments, and responses to interventions. Complete required documentation for billing and legal purposes in a timely manner.

Benefits of Working in a Rural Community

  • Community Engagement: Rural communities often have tight-knit populations, and you'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with both patients and community members.
  • Work-Life Balance: Rural settings can offer a more relaxed pace of life, with opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping, which can contribute to a better work-life balance.
  • Variety of Cases: Working in a rural hospital may expose you to a wide variety of cases due to the limited availability of specialists. This can be professionally enriching.
  • Impactful Work: Your role as a hospitalist in a rural community can have a significant impact on improving access to healthcare and the overall health of the community. A welcoming and supportive team of professionals with a focus on quality of life.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary and benefits package – Salary range $65/ hour
  • Work-Life Balance schedule – 12 hours shifts – Flexible schedule

Qualifications:

  • Current NY state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant.
  • Previous experience as a Hospitalist is highly desirable.
  • Strong clinical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rural healthcare environment.
  • Willingness to be on-call and work variable shifts as needed.

Overall, working as an NP or PA Hospitalist in a rural community with outdoor activities can be a unique and fulfilling experience. It allows you to make a meaningful impact on a close-knit community while enjoying the benefits of a slower-paced lifestyle and access to outdoor recreational activities.
